À l’origine de ses projets, il y a toujours une exploration du territoire, une recherche sur ses caractéristiques géologiques, architecturales ou mythologiques. S’ensuit un processus d’extraction et de transformation des éléments formels ou narratifs du paysage, qu’elle réinsère dans ses installations sous forme de fiction. C’est une métho- dologie du syncrétisme qu’Angeles Rodriguez applique dans son travail : ses pièces sont autant constituées des indices sur l’endroit dans lequel elle expose et des récits qui y sont rattachés que des allusions à des paysages oniriques et magnétiques. Pour Plattform21, le territoire est la cathédrale de Lugano et l’histoire proposée est gé- nérée par les icônes de l’hagiographie de San Lorenzo. À MASILugano, Angeles Rodriguez plante le décor d’une légende et imagine les objets qui y résideraient. Conçues de manière sérielle, les pièces forment une collection et sont présentées à la manière d’un musée d’archéologie qui recenserait les détails d’une culture que l’on ne saurait dater. Il s’agit là d’une science nouvelle que l’on pourrait qualifier de céramologie fictive, un procédé d’archéo-céramique fictionnelle. Le travail explore la notion de motif. Il est développé à travers l’utilisation méthodologique et obsessionnelle de l’argile, liquide ou solide, et crée un ensemble de systèmes. Avec le même adobe avec lequel le bâtiment a été fait, elle intervient sur les colonnes encore debout for- mant des frises en forme de vague. Le résultat évoque l’eau de la rivière voisine ou la silhouette des montagnes, mais curieusement, un ton futuriste, comme extraterrestre peut également être perçu. Des pièces délicates sculptées dans de l’argile non cuite confèrent au matériau une présence encore vivante. Enfin, de subtils autels triangu- laires en argile face aux montagnes complètent ce petit antimonument vers un lieu magique, site choisi pour ce chapitre où les cœurs chassent dans la solitude.
